A mechanistic model for minimizing pressure loss in the wellbore during drilling by considering the effects of cuttings

Because of the existence cuttings in flow, pressure loss wellbore can increase significantly. Minimization flow greatly benefits drilling process. This work investigates most important factors to during hole cleaning It is found that, for solid–liquid, two-phase fluid rate not always proportional annular as single-phase flow. The mechanisms behind this effect are studied, and a mechanistic model based on proposed simulate process predict critical rate, which gives minimum wellbore. inclination angle, rheological parameters, annulus geometry, penetration value investigated by using model. Results show that increases angle under 60° decreases once goes beyond 60°. viscosity geometry increase. be used minimize given operational conditions optimize parameters.
